What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. "Similar technologies" — like local storage and sessionStorage — let a website read and write small amounts of information in your browser. They are commonly used to remember preferences, keep you signed in, or measure how a site is used.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary. None at this time. The practice test runs entirely in your browser without server-side sessions.

Browser storage (not cookies, but related). Your browser may temporarily hold the URL parameters of your current quiz (your selected state, age bracket, and LPR years) so the page can render correctly when you reload it. This data stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab or clear your browser data.

Analytics. Studying Citizen does not currently use analytics cookies. If we add lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics in the future, we will update this notice and offer any choices required by applicable law.

Advertising. We do not run ads, and we do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Your choices

You can control cookies and similar technologies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block, delete, or be notified about cookies. Blocking all cookies and storage may affect basic site functionality on some pages — for example, if you reload the practice test page, your in-progress session may be lost.
